Herastrau Park or National Park Carol II was built in 1936 on the banks of Lake Herastrau (74 ha) and is the biggest park of Bucharest. It is part of the chain of lakes of the river Colentina.
Currently, Herastrau Park has an area of about 110 ha.
Before 1930, the area which is today the park was a swampy area that was reorganize during 1930-1935. This opportunity to put the entire planning and problem areas remaining open, and taking into account that the area existed Arch of Triumph [1].
In recent years, numerous pubs and terraces of the park, built illegally or whose authorization has expired, were demolished.
