According to the census in 2002 Caransebeşului population was 28,301, of which 92.13% are Romanians, Ukrainians 2.14%, 2.01% Roma, 1.87% and 1.18% German maghiari.Din religious point of view 87 , 03% are Orthodox, Catholics are 4.86%, 4.18% Baptist, Pentecostal and 2.24% less than 1% other religii.Caransebesul, unadin the oldest settlements in the Banat district in the XVI century, became one of the largest shopping centers is favored by its geographical location.
