Is a province situated in the historical territories of Romania and Hungary, with the natural limits to the west the river Tisza, Mures River in the south, the Apuseni Mountains in the east and north river Someş. It was divided on ethnic criteria in 1920 between Romania and Hungary.

This territory was outside the area of Roman occupation, but trade between free Dacians and Romans were very intense. In XIV century Tatar invasion takes place in this area and in the century XVI, Crisana come under Habsburg dominion. In the XVII century, the Fortress of Oradea falling Ottoman dominion. Territory of Hungary has been integrated by the Vienna Dictate since 1940 and was released by Romanian military in 1944.

Municipality of Arad is Arad county seat, Crisana, Banat Romania.La census in 2002 had a population of 172,824 inhabitants.

Arad is located in the western extremity of Romania, in the High Plain of Arad, 30 km away from Zarand Mountains, part of the Carpathians Occidentali.Aradul is crossed from east of the river Mures.
